        Harlan County, U.S.A.

Barbara Kopple's documentary film on the long strike of the workers at the Brookside-mine in Harlan County, Kentucky, is one of the most popular strike films of all times. As in "Salt Of The Earth" the miners' wives intervene in the strike and fight against the scabs - sometimes armed and in a heroic way side by side with their husbands. The film gives an insight into the history of the United Mine Workers union. (103 minutes)
