        Hey Textile Workers on Strike

        Istanbul, Taksim Square, June 2013 - Workers from Hey Textile have been on strike for 485 days. They are protesting against their firings and are demanding their unpaid wages from management. Before their dismissal they were working sometimes 24, 36, 48 hour shifts and sleeping on the assembly lines. - "First she let us work like slaves and then she fires us", said one of the workers, referring to the boss of company, Aynur Bektas, who was nevertheless acknowledged by Prime Minister Erdogan on International Women's Day and honoured as an entrepreneur.
