A marketing economist, a child care worker, a worker in a coal briquette factory, two female punks, and a grandmother tell their stories.

"Goodbye Winter (Winter adé) was made in 1988. It is one of the most important films on women in East Germany, with its unfiltered expression of their desires and feelings. The film met the refusal of responsible officials because of its open critique of political attitudes and of the poor social situation of women - despite 40 years of laws that guaranteed women's equality. In spite of the resistance the film was shown at the competition of the International Week of Documentary Films in Leipzig and won the Silver Pigeon (Silberne Taube). It ran in East Germany's cinemas, too, with remarkable success." (DEFA-Foundation)
