The No Border Camp takes place near the Bulgarian border city of Svilengrad from August 25 to 29, 2011. About 300 activists come together to demonstrate for freedom of movement and against racism and deportations. There will be actions in various locations around the border region between Bulgaria, Greece, and Turkey. The aim is to draw attention to the human rights violations against migrants, the militarization of the EU-borders, and the repressive activities of the EU-agency FRONTEX. The No Border Camp takes place in the tri-border region because in order for Bulgaria to join the Schengen Convention, which it is supposed to do in 2012, it has to meet certain conditions - such as reinforce their borders and establish detention camps.
