It is not hard to see why East German authorities censored this film and drove its director out of DEFA, the state-sponsored film producing agency. 'Trace Of Stones' is an intricate, uncompromising, realistic look at a massive East German power plant construction site (Schkona) and its socioeconomic complexity of political intrigue and working class consciousness.
