Berlin, January 3, 2005 - Several hundred demonstrators walk in front of the state employment agency (Arbeitsamt) in the district of Wedding. They want to take their protest against labour market reforms to the place were those reforms take shape.
From now on, people who have been unemployed for more than a year will only get 345 Euros a month plus their rent payment (in the west of Germany). Thereby, the unemployment insurance de facto loses its character as an insurance. The ruling class enforces a low wage sector that is supposed to dominate the labour regime in Germany.
The attempt to enter the employment agency as "citizens" (Peter Grottian) fails. The police take violent action against the demonstrators and uses its shepherd dogs.
