This documentary traces the life, struggles and political impact of Suffragette and revolutionary Sylvia Pankhurst. She struggled for women's right to vote as a part of the Suffragette movement in England at the beginning of the 20th century, but unlike her mother and sister, who fought for the vote for upper class women and abandoned their efforts to support and recruit for the First World War, Sylvia fought for women's rights within a broader framework of social emancipation and workers' struggle. We learn about her working class politics, many imprisonments, militant action, opposition to war, internationalism and why she's so inspiring.

But this isn't a documentary about one woman. We learn of the the broader social, economic and political situation at that time, when revolution was a very real threat to the ruling class.

The full film will be shown by labournet.tv on 24th November 2012 at Laika, Emser Straße 131, Neukölln, Berlin at 19.00. We hope to see you there!
